This is not primary care and it does not change how a GP practice is valued or bought. Institutional health capital in Australia is going to specialised therapeutics rather than GP networks. Converted, the round is about $450m, close to the price AFR Street Talk reported for the whole Bupa-Partnered Health transaction.

Twenty-two GP practices are live on the broker marketplaces; sold stock left on the pages makes the market look twice its size

Twenty-two GP practices are on the market across the broker marketplaces the Zoo tracks, with one more under contract and three delisted, one of those in the week to today. The first reading of a Friday count in which every listing is fetched and checked against the broker's own index page. On one marketplace, thirty of its thirty-three listings had already sold: that broker publishes status on the index page and nowhere else, so the listing page still reads as available years after the sale, and most sold entries carry no date. Those thirty are an archive of what has cleared, not stock that moved this week. Of the twenty-two live, NSW and VIC hold seven each, QLD and WA four each; sixteen metropolitan, four regional, two rural or remote. Eight state no asking price and six sit between $500,000 and $1m. The count is a floor: it covers openly advertised stock only, and practices traded quietly through a broker's book never reach a marketplace. A level this week, not a trend; the comparison starts next Friday.

No new Australian GP deal; the determination we flagged for the second half of July has not appeared

The standing threads checked rather than a new development. No new Australian GP practice acquisition has reached the ACCC register since Partnered Health's 3 July Ryan Plaza notification (MN-15027), re-checked directly this morning: Phase 1 initial assessment, effective 3 July, submissions closed 10 July, no determination published, and the determination period running to 14 August. The second-half-of-July expectation is the Zoo's own rather than an ACCC timetable, so it is our flag that is late, not the regulator, and eight days of the month remain. The Bupa-Partnered Health parent transaction is still absent as a separate notification, so the ACCC and FIRB approvals that deal needs remain outstanding, and there was no new development today in the Partnered Health breach. In New Zealand, Green Cross's NZD 270m sale of The Doctors to Tend is still targeted for completion by 31 July, with nothing on the NZX on completion as at today.

Australian Clinical Labs penalty puts cyber liability on the buyer of a practice, not the seller

Three GP practice operators have disclosed data incidents since mid-June: Ochre Health, Partnered Health and GO2 Health. No Australian buyer, broker or adviser has published a repricing, a new condition or a withdrawn offer tied to any of them, and neither Bupa nor Partnered Health has said whether the breach at Partnered Health engages any provision of their agreement. Nothing visible in this market has yet changed how a practice is priced or bought, which is a different thing from the exposure being small. The exposure was decided in court last October. The Federal Court ordered Australian Clinical Labs to pay $5.8m on 8 October 2025, the first civil penalty under the Privacy Act, over a February 2022 breach at Medlab Pathology whose assets it had bought in December 2021, affecting more than 223,000 people. The liability fell on the acquirer, for the state of a business it had owned about three months, and named firms reading the judgment make the same point about the technical diligence that preceded it. A practice sale transfers the patient data and the condition it was kept in, alongside the billings, the lease and the roster. Whether the liability reaches the level of the market where most practices change hands, or stays with the corporates and groups large enough to be worth suing, is unresolved. Medius analysis.

The standing threads checked rather than a new development. GO2 Health tells patients of an April mailbox breach almost three months on

A second Australian practice has disclosed a breach inside a week. GO2 Health at Everton Park in Brisbane's north told the ABC that its main email mailbox was accessed in April after a phishing attack. Patients who use the mailbox were alerted on 24 April and the OAIC was notified on 18 May, but affected patients were not emailed until 16 July. The clinic said the mailbox may have held some patients' Department of Veterans' Affairs ID numbers and other information sent to the inbox, that the system where it primarily stores patient information was not accessed, and that the mailbox auto-archives so the exposure covers the preceding 12 months. It said identifying the affected patients took nearly three months. The business point is the notification clock and the fact that an ordinary reception inbox is itself a notifiable asset.

No new Australian GP deal; the first mandatory-regime determination is still awaited, and the Partnered Health breach still sits over Bupa's target

A quiet register day, with the standing threads checked rather than a new development. No new Australian GP practice acquisition has reached the ACCC register since Partnered Health's 3 July Ryan Plaza notification (MN-15027), re-checked directly this morning: still at Phase 1, effective 3 July, submissions concluded, no determination published, and the determination period ending 14 August, with the flagged second-half-of-July decision not yet appeared. The Bupa-Partnered Health parent transaction is still absent as a separate notification, so the ACCC and FIRB approvals the deal needs remain outstanding. The data breach at Partnered Health still sits over the acquisition, unchanged since Monday: 21 named clinics, insurer and Veteran Card (DVA) numbers among the information at risk, an interim NSW Supreme Court injunction, and Best Practice cleared. In New Zealand, Green Cross's NZD 270m sale of The Doctors to Tend is still targeted for completion by 31 July, with no completion notice on the NZX today.

Insurer and DVA card numbers among the information at risk in the Partnered Health breach; Best Practice software cleared; no new Australian GP deal on the register

Coverage published on Friday afternoon, after that day's scan, added detail to the data breach at Partnered Health, the network Bupa is acquiring. Partnered Health has now named the 21 affected clinics across five states and territories, five still under investigation and 16 where healthcare-record data may be affected, and the information at risk can include Medicare, private health insurance and Veteran Card (DVA) numbers and clinical records where a clinic held them. The patient-management software vendor Best Practice was cleared, confirming Partnered Health as a customer but saying its platform was not compromised and that it is not part of the incident response. Partnered Health holds an interim NSW Supreme Court injunction, and the 22-day gap between detection on 23 June and disclosure on 15 July sits inside the OAIC's 30-day window despite expert criticism. The register has not moved: no new GP practice acquisition since Partnered Health's 3 July Ryan Plaza notification (MN-15027), checked directly this morning, still at Phase 1 with submissions concluded and its determination period ending 14 August.

Settlement on the Bupa-Partnered Health deal reported for later this year; no new Australian GP deal on the register

The Medical Republic reported on 16 July that Bupa's acquisition of Partnered Health remains subject to regulatory approval, with settlement expected later this year. The wording is the outlet's own rather than a quoted Bupa statement, and Bupa's own 18 June announcement set no timetable, saying only that the deal was subject to ACCC and Foreign Investment Review Board approval and other customary conditions. Bupa put distance between itself and the breach at its target, saying Partnered Health 'is not yet owned nor managed by Bupa Australia' and that no Bupa data is affected. The OAIC said organisations generally have 30 days to assess a breach before notifying, placing the 22-day delay inside the statutory window despite the criticism of it. The register has not moved: no new GP practice acquisition since Partnered Health's own 3 July Ryan Plaza notification (MN-15027), checked directly this morning, still at Phase 1 with submissions concluded and its determination period ending 14 August.

Partnered Health, Bupa's $450m target, discloses a data breach mid-clearance; no new Australian GP deal on the register

Partnered Health, the general practice and skin cancer network Bupa agreed to buy for about $450m on 18 June, told patients on 15 July that an attacker had accessed its systems on 23 June, five days after the deal was announced and while the acquisition still needs ACCC and Foreign Investment Review Board clearance. The group has written to patients at 21 clinics across five states and territories, has confirmed data was taken from 16 of them, and holds an interim NSW Supreme Court injunction against the use or publication of the stolen material. For a buyer mid-clearance this is deal-execution risk, cyber liability and notifiable-breach exposure on top of the ACCC and FIRB conditions. The register has not otherwise moved: no new GP practice acquisition since Partnered Health's own 3 July Ryan Plaza notification (MN-15027), checked directly today, still at Phase 1 with submissions concluded and its determination period ending 14 August.
