GPZoo
The Zoo dataset

2,041 of the country's practices sit inside 340 groups. This file names every one.

Every entity running two or more general practice sites under common ownership or management: ASX-listed health companies, private equity platforms, insurer-backed operators and doctor-owned groups. With ABNs, ownership type, operator contacts and the practices each one holds.

What it is

A map of corporate and group ownership of Australian general practice at site level. No one else builds it. The public dashboard shows site counts and GP numbers; the licensed dataset adds who owns each group, how it is structured, who to call and which practices sit under it.

GP count is a unique headcount within each operator: a doctor across several of that operator's sites is counted once. Summed across operators, a GP working for more than one group is counted in each, so the figure slightly overstates distinct individuals. State site split: NSW 545, VIC 532, QLD 469, WA 254, SA 132, TAS 67, ACT 34, NT 8.

Features and what they let you do

What is in the file

  • Ownership at parent level. Trading name, legal entity, ABN and ownership type for each operator.
  • Scale. Site count, GP count and state footprint per operator.
  • The named contact. Operator contact name, title, phone and LinkedIn where held.
  • Site-level detail. Every one of the 2,041 practices: name, address, suburb, state, phone and website.
  • Research notes. The reasoning and source behind each operator record.

What it lets you do

  • See the acquirer pool. Know which groups are large enough to buy, and where they already operate.
  • Place a vendor in the hierarchy. Percentile rank by sites and GPs, and the count of plausible acquirers above them.
  • Target by geography. Match single-state operators against the expansion profiles of larger groups.
  • Reach the decision-maker. Go to the named operator contact, not a switchboard.
  • Brief a board. One reconciled source for a market that is otherwise pieced together by hand.
